Exploding volume of contracts for review 

Vantage Data Centers designs, builds, and operates hyperscale data centers — extremely large data centers built to be easily scalable — across North America, EMEA, and APAC. As global expansion accelerated, so did the volume and complexity of contracts flowing through legal: from NDAs and vendor agreements to highly customized, lengthy data center leases.

When Matt Gardner, Staff Attorney, Global Legal Operations, joined Vantage’s legal operations function over three years ago, the team was supporting a fast-growing global legal organization without a dedicated contract intelligence platform.

Contracts moved through email, Microsoft Word, and Teams. There was no single place where contracts were stored. And there was no easy way to surface critical obligations buried deep inside complex leases.

The search begins for an AI-powered contracting solution

Vantage evaluated multiple AI contracting platforms, even considering an internal build but none could handle the sophistication of their agreements. Other AI platforms stopped at surface-level extraction, pulling basic “table-stakes” fields like contract value, expiration dates, and signatures, while missing the deeper business logic embedded throughout Vantage’s leases.

Ivo, by contrast, could be shaped around Vantage’s requirements. The team worked directly with Ivo to configure the system to their workflows and reflect the realities of their business. Following a successful pilot, Vantage rolled out Ivo’s automated, playbook-driven platform to review, analyze, and summarize vendor contracts, operations agreements, NDAs, and land-use documents.

Before Intelligence, Vantage’s legal team manually summarized enormous, complex leases in Word or Excel, answering constant questions from the business because nothing was searchable and institutional knowledge lived in people’s heads. With no way for finance, operations, or executives to self-serve key terms or reporting and limited legal ops resources supporting 85 global legal staff, growth amplified the manual work and delays. However, with the introduction of Intelligence:
